Claire's primary class at church is the largest and often the one with the most energy. They are great kids. They have lots of energy. I imagine it can be hard to teach at times with all that energy bubbling around. Apparently today there was a lot of extra enthusiasm.
On the way home from church we asked our kids about their classes. Claire immediately reported that her classmates had not been polite to the teacher, that they said unkind things like "this is so boring", etc. And then she said, "But I took care of it." I asked her what she meant and she said, "Well, I finally just stood up and said to my class, "You may not do this. Your teacher prepared a lesson. You may not complain that you don't like it. This needs to stop."
(Note, this is an official quote, exactly what she said. I had her repeat it twice to make sure I got it down right).
Stuart and I both looked at each other like "Woah." Honestly, I didn't know what my reaction should be. So I didn't say anything but asked, "What did your teacher say after you did that?"
"She said, 'Thank you Claire, thank you very much'".
Well I think that my recent talks with her about standing up for good things took hold. Maybe too much. (: I may have to modify it. After all, teachers probably don't want 6 year old girls trying to be in charge.
But whose girl is this anyway? I never had the courage to do things like that as a kid. Well it's just another reason I love her so much. She is a strong spirit. I hope she always is.

I think that is great. I know what you mean about not wanting a kid running your class, but if they help the other kids be good- hey I'm all for it!! I think it is the crazy Christmas spirit this week. I subbed yesterday for a Sunbeam class and wow they have a lot of energy!!
