Last night I came home from a meeting to find my babies sleeping. I noticed that Jeremiah was sleeping without his blankie. I thought that was odd since there's usually tears if we can't find blankie. Knowing that Jeremiah would be upset when he woke up in the middle of the night (yes, he wakes up every night in the middle of the night) and come wake me up to find the blankie I decided it was best to find it and put it in his bed.
Well I couldn't find it. So I asked Stuart about it. He hadn't seen it. Stuart, knowing I have a hard time letting things like this "wait until morning" got out of bed to help me look for it. We checked the bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, etc.
Finally we found the blankie stuffed underneath the crack of the Play Doh center. We laughed about it and guessed he stuffed it there so he wouldn't have to take it upstairs even though Daddy had asked him to take it up lots of times already.
So this morning I asked Jeremiah about blankie. He hadn't gone to bed with it. I asked him why. He said, "because it wasn't in my bed." "Why wasn't it in your bed?" "Because it wasn't." I then asked, "Do you know where it was?" "It was stuffed under the Play Doh thing." "And why did you stuff it under there?" "So daddy wouldn't get me in trouble." "And why did you think you'd be in trouble?" "Because I didn't take it to my room and he asked me to lots of times, but I didn't want to do it. So I stuffed it under there so Daddy wouldn't find it and I could keep it with me."
Sneaky, but smart, boy. This does explain why he never asked Stuart to get his blankie when he went to bed. It would mean admitting he hadn't ever taken care of his blanket.
