today stuart was mediating an issue between claire and jeremiah. jeremiah had apparently found one of claire's pennies in her room and deemed it as his. claire was enfatic it was her penny and that jeremiah could not have it. i didn't listen to everything jeremiah and stuart talked about but when they were done jeremiah came running to me for backup.
i asked him why claire had hurt his hand (claire grabbed the penny out of his hand and "hurt" it) and he said "because i take her penny." "well jeremiah, that's claire's penny." he replied, "but i found it, it's mine." "no, it was in claire's room and you can't take it unless she says you can have it. that's stealing and we shouldn't steal."
"but mommy, we steal in basketball so it's ok."
it feels so good to be out thought by my 3 year old. i did my best to explain the difference but until he can understand the difference i suspect he'll go on thinking it's ok to take monies whenever he finds them. i'd guard your couch cushions and piggy banks carefully.

Well, if Jeremiah is going to take something at least he has the right idea and he went for the goods!!!!
thanks for the link to your blog! Jeremiah is just too smart for his own good! I love the things that kids come up with for arguments . . .
I just found your blog through
Catherine's. It has been a long time. I miss your cutie kids!! They seem to have kept all the spunk I remember. What a fun story!
